Paying it Forward, At Long Last

Months ago I was a winner! (Insert arm pumping and happy dance here.) No, really. I can say that because I actually did win something. The other Laurel over at Little Miss Sassy Pants payed it forward to me, and I got a great little package.

Unfortunately I don't have any pictures of it for the same reason I don't have any pictures with with my siblings/nieces/nephews. I got too excited. And when I'm too excited or having too much fun I don't have the patience or discipline to stop and take pictures. Alas, my life is full of great moments for which I have no physical evidence. So I'll say this about Laurel's package: It was full of delightful things. The theme was "Favorites", so it was full of things she loved-- all cute, yummy, pretty, and fun. It made me happy.

So now it's my turn. I've been thinking and thinking about what I could include, and I've come up with some winners! And if you live in the Mesa area, I might even invite you over for dinner because one of my favorite things is cooking for friends. If not in the Mesa area, don't despair, the package will make up for it. I'm serious about my favorite things, y'all.

Okay, so if you want to get in the drawing, leave a comment, and I'll have my daughter pick a random winner. All readers are eligible so don't be shy. I don't care if you've never left a comment before, today's the day. Take it from a winner, you don't want to miss it!

Oh how I wish I could come for dinner. Ever since my snow day, and your "invite" I've been dreaming of Arizona!

This may seem a little strange, but I've been reading your blog because of your link to "the other Laurel" - little missy sassy pants. She and I were mission companions back in the day. When I found your blog link, I immediately loved it, couldn't stop laughing, and thought what an amazing woman you are. And to boot, you live in Mesa. (I, too, live in Mesa.) I often wonder what it would be like to have a friend like you. At the same time though, (I laugh inside as I type this), occasionally I feel like a stalker because I know so much about you and you don't even know I exist. Rest assured though, I'm not psycho - just ask Sassy!
Maybe someday I'll have the pleasure of meeting you and your adorable family.

By the way, I didn't send the comment just because of the "pay it forward" concept; since I'm not a blogger myself, it would be difficult to continue paying it forward in the blogging world. Although I think the concept is great and try to personally do stuff like that at random just in everyday life. Surprises and gifts for others are the best!
I just wanted to finally say hi.

Hello Dartell! I am glad to get to know you, too. It's one of my favorite things about blogging: meeting new people. It's kind of like pen pals back in the day. And no I don't think you're a "stalker." There are plenty of blogs that I read consistenly and they don't even know I exist, so I don't think it's weird at all. By the way, your comment made my day! (Although I'm pretty sure I'd disappoint in person.:0))

I highly doubt you'd disappoint in person. I see the things you do in life and am truly amazed...I wish I was as creative and talented and well balanced and everything else...as you. I used to love writing letters to pen pals back in the day and still find it fun through modern means of email. A good handwritten letter is still a prize possession though in my book! I'm glad I finally said hi. It's nice to have a new friend.

Well please count me in! I know I would LOVE any of your favorites! Dinner at the Wicke's.....amazing!

I would just like to note that, techinically, I live closer to you than Debbie does so naturally it would be easier to invite me over for dinner than her. Just sayin'.

Anyway, if you haven't already, please come visit my blog and accept my invitation to join me for my new Mommy Tip Tuesdays. It won't be the same without you! :)

I just found your blog from Debbie,s or Brittney's, or Meredith (I can't remember). What a great idea to pay it forward. I've only met you 3 times but you made an impression on me with your humor, positive personality, and your love for life. I'd say pick me because our household has been sick for two weeks and we need something exciting to happen. We are still recovering. I'm also just so curious as to what you are putting together. I admire people that are so creative. But really this will be tough pick.. What a fun thing to do.

I'll raise my hand and come forward as a blogstalker too. :) I'm a friend of Erin (and her Mr. Wicke) and have met you a time or two. You're welcome to become a window-peeper into my world too if you like--just get the address and password from Erin. :)

WOW...... You again have the best ideas ever!!!!!!I enjoy your friendship and your easy going view on life, your ability to know when to let it go and when to not.
It is actually your turn to eat at my house (TAG you are it!!!) I look forward to many lunches/dinners with your family:)

Dinner with Mr. Wicke... sweet.

Becky, that was supposed to be good to hear from you! With an exclamation point (my favorite punctuation apparently) not good to hear from you? (with a question mark.) Just to clear that up because I could see you on the other end wondering "What the heck does that ? mean? Seriously. What does that mean?" At least that is what I would be doing. But I'm weird like that. You, however, probably aren't and now you may be saying, "What the heck is she going on about? I mean really!" So I will stop now. :0)

You crack me up. :)

I am one of the many friends/family members they have here in AZ--I live at Gilbert/Warner. I have dropped them off at your house a couple of times during their trips, but it's been a couple of years.

I do hear that your love affair with Cafe Rio is as passionate as mine is. Let me know when you're in the neighborhood sometime and I'll meet you for a yummy salad.

OK, I don't even know how I GOT to your blog in the first place, yet I keep coming back to check on you. You've inspired me to post!

You have very cute hair (I'm always in search of a cute style, although I fear I would look quite dorky with yours). I've been known to stop people to ask if I can take pictures of their hair.

I'm impressed with your impeccable spelling, grammar, and punctuation. I read way too many blogs and yours is one of the best for all of those things. As a former editor, I really appreciate this!

I do one load of laundry per day, too. Are you a Flybaby, by any chance?

Cucumber boats...absolute Mensa material, lol. I cannot wait until it actually gets warm and we can do something water-related outside.

Have a great day!

I would love to receive a 'package' (he he!)

Hello Jen and Steph! Thanks for the shout out! I appreciate the comments on spelling and punctuation. As an ex-English teacher I have a rep to protect, so I do give it some effort. Just don't look too closely. ;) Steph, do I know you in real life? And where are you guys anyhow? I started this blog thinking that I was doing it to keep in touch with my family, and I'm totally surprised that people I don't know find it remotely interesting. Super flattered, but still shaking my head. It's been so fun to connect with new people. By the way, I tried to visit your blogs, but no luck. Throw me some details, would you?

Laurel said...

Oh, Jen! I am a flybaby! Well, a fluttering baby more like it. I think she's onto something, though.
