Sigmund Need Not Analyze. I Got This One Figured.

I had a weird dream. And because no one can ever successfully communicate the absolute weirdness of their dreams, I will not go into great detail.

Here's a paraphrase: It had to do with giving birth--something I have never done before, but about which I know enough to know that the following does not make any sense. But, then again, dreams rarely do. (Like the reoccurring dream I had a few years ago where I was a chain-smoking fool, and loving it by the way. It happened so often it started weirding me out. Anyway...)

So in my current freaky dream, my water breaks while on location at the hospital; however, I'm not at the hospital when it happens. I know. Doesn't make sense. I told you. When I arrive the doctor is all upset, and up on the table I go for examination where they find some sort of viral/fungal growth in my womb that looks ridiculously like air puffed Cheetos. The doc says the baby has to come out NOW! The next word I hear is episiotomy and they reach for...(wait for it)...A CIRCULAR SAW WITH LIKE A QUARTER INCH BLADE!!!

Can you say subconscious fear of birthing? Don't bother getting up Mr. Freud. I get it already. But I could use some feedback on that chain-smoking dream, if you don't mind.

Did this nightmare wake you up? I have to say that I have never had a birth dream. And from hearing yours I am glad I haven't! It all seems a lot scarier because of the unknown. You'll do great! And I totally believe they only have the circular saws in Orthopedic surgery!

What a nightmare!! I never had a circular saw in my delieveries, LOL;) But, I must say, I have had dreams that I am giving birth, and when I wake up my stomach hurts. Crazy!! I have no idea what that means. You will be just fine. It is the unknown that scares us.
Good Luck!!

WOWZY! That is a scary one! When reading your post, I automatically crossed my legs. :)
Labor is the most hard, scary, amazing, joyous, intense, gross and yet the most beautiful thing I will ever do in my life. No matter how many children I have, I know I will ALWAYS be scared and nervous about giving birth. I think that is completely normal to feel that way.
As for the chain smoking dream...you got me stomped on that one! Maybe it is a warning that you could be if you ever tried the stuff???? Or maybe it is a way of telling you that you need to slow down do something that calms you???? Just shooting in the dark here.

Love to you and your 3 babies! XOXO

My favorite was the dream before my first one where my mom was giving me my IV and among other things, I blacked out (in the dream) and woke to find the baby already born and was so sad I missed it.

All I recommend is don't get induced--they don't let you eat the whole time and the contractions hurt worse. I like staying at home as long as possible because stuff doesn't seem to hurt as badly at home than they do at the hospital.

Do you have birth plan? You can tell them NOT to do an episiotomy unless it is strictly necessary to help the baby out after you've already tried to get it out without the cut. I've had three babies and no episiotomies--but my midwife didn't do them unless she really had to. She was fabulous and then decided she had to retire right after I had the last baby. I don't know what to DO!

YIKES!!!!
I am feeling lucky I didn't have to give birth to my children because I am TERRIFIED of it!!! :)
Good luck! I don't think they'll be a circular saw involved..LOL

I am rolling!!! I remember three of my dreams when I was pg with London. 1) I had to fight off giant-sized chicken McNuggets that emerged from the backseat of my car while driving. 2) I gave birth to a litter of puppies and 3) I gave birth in a M.A.S.H unit type environment.

Aren't pg dreams great? You'll miss them later when you're not getting any sleep to speak of. lol!

Okay the chain-smoking...I will have to think about that. Your deep down secret desire to be naughty and have respiratory problems? As far as dreams go, hormones can really spice things up. I had some VERY interesting pregnancy dreams, but I have to say that my breast-feeding dreams took the cake! WILD!(for example, getting jumped by a very thirsty dog...yes, a dog). My dear, sweet Phoebe liked to nurse a lot!!! Hence, the crazy dreams. Well, they give us a good laugh anyway!

Well, Freud said that a cigar is never just a cigar (wink wink) so perhaps the same could be said for a cigarette?

Madame Queen: Hahahahaha! That is a good one. Mr. Wicke will be thrilled! (Truly giggling)

Ha ha! I always have crazy vivid dreams when I'm pregnant, and I also dream I love to smoke when I'm pregnant. What is that? Weird? Does that cigar comment mean what I think it means?

I think the first words out of my mouth was "EPIDURAL!" I had the worst 14 hours of labor and then a emergency c-section so I got run over by the bus and then it came back for another go...... All I know is that no matter how that kid gets here, you are just so HAPPY to not be pregnant anymore that any amount of pain is worth it. You will do fine and I am sure that this will be great blog fodder.

I often dream that my teeth are falling out and I am traumatized by that! I would much rather deliver babies than have my teeth fall out...

in fact, i prefer delivering babies to even dreaming about my teeth falling out.
