Gluttony and Sloth

They say confession is good for the soul. Well, here goes:

On Saturday I probably ate 12 mini candybars. I didn't keep count, but it's got to be close. When I told my friend about it she tried to be kind and said, "Well...they're tiny."

I, having no false illusions about the occurance, responded, "That is like FOUR regular candybars! Who eats four regular candybars in ONE day?!"

And if I'm going to be completely honest, I should add that I also ate a bowl of ice cream with hot fudge that night.

And maybe I should also mention that I laid on the couch all day in my jammies and watched 4 movies.

So now that I've put that out there for the world to see, I should feel better, right? I'm waiting....Nope. Still kind of embarrassing.

Yeah, I loved the week I went to see the doctor and she came in and said, "You gained ten pounds in one week?!" so incredulously. Sue me lady. That was the first pregnancy, during the second, there were days I could not. get. enough. chocolate.

All I can say is, welcome to the club, friend.

Someone told me while I was pregnant with Bella that when I crave something I should listen to it. Because that is exactly what the baby is in need of.
So baby Wicke wanted a bunch of chocolate! She is your child right? What can we do? :)
I say, be as lazy as you possible can right now, because when that baby comes out it will be go, go, go like crazy as soon as you leave that hospital bed.
Nobody talks about all the really hard and not so fun stuff about having babies, did you notice that?
But if anyone can do it- You can!
Love you.

non-related comment (although i do enjoy some good chocolate...the mini ones seem less indulgent)

my younger brother took our pictures...he is good!

He is in California, but I can get you his info if you are ever out his way...(he does come to visit us out here sometimes, too!)

Not to make excuses for you, but I think you're totally allowed to do that when your cooking a baby.
I've heard that being pregnant is the equivalent of climbing mount everest as far as burning energy goes. You just needed all that sugar and rest to fuel all that hard work your doing!!
So, don't feel guilty!

If you can't eat that much when you're pregnant, then when will you ever have a better excuse?

I just saw you on Sunday and you look great. You are one of the cutest pregnant gals ever so I wouldn't worry too much :)

Plus eat the chocolate while you can. When I breast fed my kids I had to avoid chocolate, spicy foods, caffeine, ice cream, etc. the entire time so if you end up in the same boat you'll be deprived soon. (My kids had terrible reflux so my diet had to be limited for a year and it STUNK!)

Um, what if I'm not pregnant, then what? I finally got back on the treadmill this morning. It felt good. We've had colds around here, I guess that's my excuse.

I had to laugh at your gluttony comments. It reminds me of a story your sister told me when she was pregnant with Jason. Ask her if she remembers eating banana cream pie.

Girl, you go right ahead and do whatever you want because in a few months, your time will not be your own. I'm not trying to scare you b/c you're a mom alreayd and you know what it's like, but just savor this time. Eat what you want. Lounge in your pajamas all day. You have my permission. :)

That sounds like good therapy to me. When I was pregnant with my first, the whole month of December all I ate was chocolate, she was born the 29th of that month. So do it and enjoy it.

At least you have a really good excuse.

What's mine?

I'm sorry, I have to comment. I check your blog ever so often. I found you through a friend of a friend (you know how it goes:) Anyway, I'm 15 weeks pregnant right now and I loooove your honesty about your pregnancy. It makes me feel sooo much more normal. I thought I was feeling veery lazy and veery over indulgent. So thank your for your confession. You just made my day:)

It is OK to be embarrassed :o) Us women all understand when we feel like eating 4 "large" candy bars. You just went to the extreme and did it. Good for you! I'll follow your example when its my turn.
